Nestled in the northern suburbs of Athens, at the foothills of Mount Parnitha, this family residence is designed to integrate with its lush, green surroundings while providing functional spaces for family living. The house is organized into three distinct volumes. Two of the volumes feature sloped roofs, while the middle volume, connecting them, has a flat roof. The volumes work together to shape a protective enclosure around a central atrium, where the main entrance is positioned, marked by a prominent tree at its core.
The front volume, oriented towards the surroundings, contains the living and dining areas. Large floor-to-ceiling openings provide direct visual and physical access to the atrium and the surrounding natural environment..The main opening leads to a covered outdoor space, seamlessly transitioning to a platform that hosts a pergola for outdoor dining, a pool, and an adjacent lounge area. Shielded from the street by a dense layer of greenery, the outdoor living space offer both serenity and privacy, while maintaining a connection to the landscape.
The rear volume, thoughtfully positioned to overlook the back of the plot, is a two-story structure designed to accommodate various family needs. The ground floor includes a guest suite and a playroom, both with direct access to a quiet backyard, ideal for children to play in a safe and secluded outdoor space. The upper level is dedicated to bedrooms: two children’s rooms with a shared bathroom, and a master bedroom with an expansive opening that provides natural light and views to the outdoors.
The interior design emphasizes neutral tones and natural materials to create a calm and inviting atmosphere. Natural materials, complemented by soft, textured area rugs dominate the palette, creating a cozy atmosphere. Linen curtains and carefully curated furniture pieces create a cohesive and balanced aesthetic.
Throughout the home, the integration of natural elements – from the tree in the atrium to the carefully framed views of the surrounding greenery – ensures a seamless blend of indoor and outdoor living.
